Minireview of Leptoquark Searches
Leptoquarks are hypothetical bosons which couple to a lepton and a quark via a Yukawa coupling (denoted λ). In the Standard model, both quarks and leptons occur in left-handed SU(2) doublets and right-handed SU(2) singlets. The symmetry between quarks and leptons leads to the cancellation of triangle anomalies which make the SM renormalizable. Leptoquarks appear in theories[1] in which this sym...
متن کاملIndirect Leptoquark Searches at Polarized Lepton Colliders
We examine the utility of employing polarized lepton (electron and muon) beams to perform indirect searches for scalar leptoquarks. We find that polarization can extend the reach in excluding leptoquark masses for both e + e − and µ + µ − machines. Polarization can also provide a diagnostic tool for determining leptoquark couplings.
متن کاملSpin Determination via Third Generation Cascade Decays
Once new particles are discovered at the LHC and their masses are measured, it will be of crucial importance to determine their spin, in order to identify the underlying new physics model. We investigate the method first suggested by Barr and later extended by others to distinguish between Supersymmetry and alternative models, e.g. Universal Extra Dimensions, in a certain cascade decay. This me...
متن کاملProbing Supersymmetry With Third-Generation Cascade Decays
The chiral structure of supersymmetric particle couplings involving third generation Standard Model fermions depends on left-right squark and slepton mixings as well as gaugino-higgsino mixings. The shapes and intercorrelations of invariant mass distributions of a first or second generation lepton with bottoms and taus arising from adjacent branches of SUSY cascade decays are shown to be a sens...
متن کاملATLAS Run 1 searches for direct pair production of third-generation squarks at the Large Hadron Collider
This paper reviews and extends searches for the direct pair production of the scalar supersymmetric partners of the top and bottom quarks in proton-proton collisions collected by the ATLAS collaboration during the LHC Run 1. Most of the analyses use 20 [Formula: see text] of collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of [Formula: see text] TeV, although in some case an additional [Formula: see text]...
